Asset description

SlashForge is a procedural sword slash creator for Unity that turns every part of a slash trail into an accessible and deeply customizable workflow using a layered approach, essentially a visual editor built specifically for slash effects. Create unique sword trails and melee slash effects by controlling their shape, movement, textures, colors, timing, distortion, and more; all through easy custom editor tools. 43 production-ready trails that work out of the box are included. Simply attach one to your weapon and start using it. (It doesn't need a character with an animator, would even work in an empty game object) It can be used for any type of melee combat (or any field where procedural mesh trail effects and sword trails might be applicable) Core Features Supports Unity 2022.3 -> Unity 6.5 Supports URP & HDRP No VFX Graph required Runtime procedural trail generation Easy set-up, see trails working on your character in just 5 minutes Easy Customization and Creation of trails thanks to Custom Editor workflows Trails are stored as Scriptable Objects so they are reusable and organized 40+ Production-Ready Trails to just drop in and see it work Works for any art style; Anime, Stylized, Realistic or Custom Art Styles Doesn't need an animator, works on any object Extensive visual documentation with supporting videos Auto-merge feature for the textures that are used together Bezier Smoothing for Smooth trail curves even at low fps Your own textures integrate seamlessly into the same creation workflow Allows multiple trails from the same source to be Batched Features to optimize for use in mobile One trail = one mesh, one draw call, one material; many deeply customizable layers, multiple slashes! SlashForge handles the technical burden of procedural mesh generation, trail sampling, lifetime data, UV creation, and batching so you can focus on artistic direction rather than rebuilding the underlying systems and shader math. For developers and artists without VFX experience: SlashForge makes advanced artistic controls accessible through an intuitive editor workflow. The documentation also explains the visual principles behind creating effective sword trails, giving you the best possible chance of producing effects that fit your game.
